Our chosen genre of film.

In our group we decided to go with the genre of Thriller. The aim for thrillers is to keep the audience alert and on the edge of their seats. The protagonist in these films is set against a problum – an escape, a mission, or a mystery. No matter what sub-genre a thriller film falls into, it will emphasize the danger that the protagonist faces. The tension with the main problem is built on throughout the film and leads to a highly stressful climax. The cover-up of important information from the viewer, and fight and chase scenes are common methods in all of the thriller sub genres, although each subgenre has its own unique characteristics and methods.
The reason that we choose the genre of Thriller is because it is the most efficient way of making a opening sequence of a film also it is more effictive on the audience.

codes and conventions normally in a thriller;
- quick cuts between shots
- camera angles changing
- music that builds tension

hello everyone i would like to introduce my group members for my As media studies film coursework. firstly Ellie Menzies who is the bossy one, Emily Howlett who is ginge in the group and Charmer Okorie who is the quiet one of the group and me Samuel Evans which makes everyone happy and giggle.
our task was to film a small convosation with another character using the 180 degree rule, in our task we chose to use a teacher and student convosation in a class room about the grades of the student.

Filming.

in the filming my role was the student waking into the teacher office and sitting down and talking about the grades. we start the shot of the overview of the class room, then a close up of the sign saying head office and then the student walking round the corner then entering the class room. the shots that we used was over the shoilder shot so it would be moving from person to person so the audience and get more involved in the shots this is also known as match on action.
in the framing on the shots we used the 180 degree rule. on the screen their was either a shot of my shoulder of ellie's shoulder.

Editing.
i was happy about the resault of the film that we produced. it ended up being better then we planned. we could have inproved it by using a trypod to make the film more stable and not shacking. we also could have used a more viriety of shots than just the two that we used, as a group i think that we worked well togeather, the planning of the film was done very well and helped us to film, and both actors knew what they were doing and saying.

these pictures are from the opening secen from the film Phyco, this is a clasical scene where is their is a death where the victim is vumrable. you cannot see the villan face of the killer to make it more misterious so the people watching the film wuill find out later in the film who it is. this picture shows a woman screaing from being horrifyed from the person in her room when she is taking a shower.

in this seconed picture it shows you that their is a person in the room, you cannot see the face so it will be more of a mistory to the viewers. you can see from the figure who it may be but still unsure as the face is hidden.
