Evaluation Activity 4
Q4 Who would be the audience for your media product?

A horror films target audience is generally those in the age group 15-25. It is mostly aimed at men as they are more likely to be able to interact with the characters on screen. Women can interact with those on screen to but they would tend to react differently.

It is important for us to know who are target audience for our film is going to be. This helps to ensure that people will watch and enjoy our film. If we don’t have a target audience it is less likely that people will want to watch it because it does not appele to any large group of audience.

Teenagers and young adults who want an adrenalin rush from being fearful of something, so this is most likely to be our selected target audience. Normally males aged 16-35 are normally likely to watch horror films.

Horror films;
Halloween (1972)
This is an 18 certificate, from the age rating it shows that audience are over the age of 18 because of the violence that occurs repeatedly in the film.

The Shining (1980)
This is 15 certificate, this shows the audience are over the age of 15, this is although the high levels of gore, includes a child as a main character.

The Thing (1982)
This is certificate of 18. this is because of the extreme graphic gore. There is also uses of language such as “shit”

Overall our target audience are aged between 15 – 19 years. This is because only the younger population like to watch such films as horror so this age would be suitable for our film.
